What we have achieved - the reporting section

In order to measure performance and achieve transparency and international comparability in our sustainability performance reporting, Vattenfall reports in accordance with Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) G3 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines. The Guidelines are the most widely accepted and used standard for sustainability reporting with more than 1,500 companies around the world applying the guidelines. This is the fifth CSR report in which Vattenfall applies GRI guidelines. Vattenfall is reporting on the A-level as defined by GRI.

The reporting section follows the GRI indicator framework, dividing environmental, social and economic performance indicators specified by GRI in sections. In addition to reporting environmental, social and economic performance we also describe the governance structure and management systems in place (see CSR Management) and provide a comprehensive content index all according to GRI standards (see GRI Content Index).

Management approach – introduction to performance indicators

In accordance with GRI the environmental, social and economic sections are each introduced by a more general description of how we approach and manage the most crucial issues. The introduction provides the framework and context for the results conveyed by the reporting under each indicator.

Reporting of environmental, social and economic performance indicators

We provide both qualitative and quantitative information on indicators specified by the GRI guidelines. Our goal is to provide a balanced and accurate presentation of our organisation’s environmental, social and economic performance. In our sustainability reporting we have identified a set of indicators (based on GRI), Preferred Performance Indicators, that is of special importance to us. These are highlighted in the What we are doing section of the report.

Report profile, scope and boundaries

Report profile, scope and boundaries describes the paremeters for the report: what the boundaries and limitations are, what is audited and what is not, what time periods the report cover and so on.
